Volunteer meeting clients needs

A story from Debbie, one of Compassion Network’s Connection Coordinator and Liaison from Bridges Community Church.

I first met Esther almost a year ago when she first came into Compassion Network with her requests for her household of 6. Connection has grown through meeting various needs and the Hearty Harvest, Joyful Bounty and Christmas Cheer programs. I now feel a part of the family! Esther is a friend and a sister in Christ.  Anyone who's interacted with her is inspired by her story, her smile, her energy and her Faith. If you ever need prayer, she's happy to pray for anyone and everyone.

In February I  helped her set up her first booth at a Newark event and see her & her family in action. They sing together, dance, play instruments and are so joyful to see and hear!

Newark Community Church was blessed by having them perform a few worship songs and they're hoping more churches will invite them as well. Esther also makes delicious food and has lots of fashion clothing items she'd like to sell to help make ends meet.

Together, we learned how to get her business started in Fremont, going through various paperwork and communications. Starting in June, she will teach African Dance and Culture at the Age Well Center - please spread the word! Wed. nights and then also Fri. at lunchtime in July. http://apm.activecommunities.com/fremont/Activity_Search/9881 reg link

It has been a joy getting to know her and her family. If you have a chance, reach out to her and hear her story. She has received much through her Compassion Network connections and has also given much with anyone she interacts with. She has big dreams to share the love of Christ with others, especially the youth and to start a non-profit in the future -- but for now, she's just trying to get her footing here in the Bay Area, take care of her 5 children (ages 10-15), pray for her husband to come to the States and share her love of African culture and the love of God with others.
