Need for Tutoring Middle School Students

Recently Sandie and Sam, a married couple from one of our churches, responded to an urgent plea that Compassion Network sent out from Newark Unified school district to find volunteers to tutor middle school students. Mike and Sandie are currently tutoring 3 students who meet with them at Newark Library.

On Thursday, March 23, Sandie and her husband Sam met at the Newark Library. Three girls showed up. At first it was a little difficult to get them to open up but, in the end, they showed up with their homework & the couple tried to go over it with them. “We're not too good at Math” they said.

Sandie and Sam were out of town the week of March 27, but they were willing to meet next Wednesday, April 5th. Their grandson is a student at Ohlone College & is a math whiz. He's willing to come next Wednesday, on his day off, to help the girls with their math homework for the first hour. Sam and Sandie will focus on the other subjects in the 2nd hour.

Each study room has a large whiteboard so, they purchased some markers & an eraser to use next week.

There's a real need here. The parents really want this for their girls. Sam & Sandie want this as well, but in the end, the girls need to want it for themselves. We're praying for each one of them.
