Building a Memorable Relationship with Fern

Steve and Theresa from Cedars Church responded to a need from an elderly lady In 2017. Fern needed help mowing her lawn, weeding and trying to catch gophers. As time went on, Steve picked avocados for her. After Theresa retired, they were able to help Fern more frequently. Steve fixed her front door, changed her door lock, installed a doorbell and they helped her get a large print, loud telephone from CTAP (CA Telephone Access Program). Since she's been in a care home in Livermore, Steve and Theresa have been picking her up to take her to doctor's appointments in Fremont, taking her to lunch, picking up prescriptions and returning her to the care home.

She'd been wanting a root beer float for days. Here's a picture of her drinking one at Dina's restaurant in Fremont.

The ongoing relationship and trust built between Fern, Steve and Theresa has proved to be a lasting bond that will be cherished for a long time.

Thank you to Steve and Theresa for stepping up and connecting with clients in need.
