Featured Volunteer Spotlight
10 years ago, the Lord found me with idle hands. Since becoming disabled (stroke), I was spending my days playing video games and listening to music - nothing else. I knew that I was wasting away and making nothing of my free time.
That's when the Lord reminded me that I had a friend in Him: Christine Beitsch. At that time, Christine was the executive director of Compassion Network. Christine inspired me to volunteer 4 days a week, full time. I was doing all sorts of activities; cleaning, shelving, typing - it was great but the real treat was the atmosphere of Compassion Network. CN has always been loved by the other organizations at the Fremont Family Resource Center and that's because the energy in the office is just amazing. It's sometime like organized mayhem and you never know what will happen!
For these reasons, I fell in love with Compassion Network after 4 solid years of working in the office with Jerry and Christine and a slew of other amazing people. Although I have had to switch to working remotely, I couldn't see myself ever doing any other work, voluntary or not. I still play video games and listen to music but not until my work is done - Praise the Lord!
